Fairfield police return escaped cow

FAIRFIELD — A cow escaped from a Fairfield residence on Saturday, leading police and the owner on a chase.

Police found a cow in the road at Black Rock Turnpike at Congress Street just after midnight on Saturday. The animal had escaped from a residence in the 4000 block of Black Rock Turnpike.

The cow’s owner and police followed the animal for several hours through multiple neighborhoods before they were able to corral it on Fairland Drive, said Lieutenant Antonio Granata of the Fairfield Police Department.

The cow has been returned to its owner.
