Trinity College announces in-person plans for commencement

HARTFORD — Trinity College is planning to have commencement ceremonies this spring with in-person attendees, according to a message from the college’s president Monday.

There will be two ceremonies scheduled for May 21, according to a message from Trinity College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney. That is aimed to help with “the need to maintain low density and proper physical distancing,” the message read.

And guests are permitted — two per graduate, per the message. Any guests planning to attend would need to have a “negative COVID-19 test result or proof of vaccination,” according to the message. The celebrations are also expected to be viewable online.

Plans for the day could shift, though, according to the message: “Please also note that these plans are subject to change if conditions or mandates from local or state officials require,” it read.

“We will update the community with more details on the plans as they become available,” the message concluded. “We anticipate hosting a town hall for graduating students and their families in the coming weeks to provide more information and answer your questions.”
