Mohegan Sun WineFest canceled for 2021

Mohegan Sun has opted to postpone its annual Sun WineFest in 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The resort casino announced the decision on its website Monday morning.

“Unfortunately the concerns with COVID-19 and keeping our community safe takes precedence,” the post read. “We will miss you this year, but can’t wait to celebrate our 18th anniversary in 2022.”

The Sun WineFest, which over nearly two decades has grown to a four-day, multi-event festival, is annually held in late January, attracting as many as 10,000 guests.

The event regularly welcomes a star-studded lineup of celebrity chefs for cooking demonstrations, book signings, special VIP tastings and meet-and-greet opportunities, while also highlighting top local chefs, restaurants and specialty vendors.

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods reopened on June 1 after closing in March to help curb the coronavirus spread, featuring safety measures including temperature checks, mask and distancing requirements, and hand sanitizer stations throughout the properties.
