BRISTOL — Police have charged Kevin Bard, a 54-year-old man in the killing of his 58-year-old girlfriend.
Police said there were “multiple” protective orders in place that should have prevented them from having any contact with one another.
Around 9:25 p.m. Sunday police were called to an address on Vance Drive for a wellness check, Detective Lt. Kevin Morrell said in a news release. The caller told authorities he had received a call from “a male resident,” of the home “stating he had killed the victim.”
When police arrived they found Bard sitting on the couch. Police found the woman in a bedroom with a “fatal knife wound,” Morrell said.
He said Bard and the woman, whose name has not been released, were in a “long-term dating relationship.”
Bard was charged with murder, criminal trespass and four counts of violation of a protective order, according to police.
He is being held on $1 million bond, according to police.
Bard has three cases pending against him, all charging him with violation of a protective order within the past year, according to the state’s judicial website.
He had been released on bond in each of those cases, the court records show.
