CT driver charged with DUI after doing ‘doughnuts’ in road

MILFORD - A 28-year-old West Haven man was arrested Sunday night after doing "doughnuts" in the roadway with his vehicle.

At around 9:30 p.m., police were told about an “erratic driver.”

“Police responded to the area and located the accused,” Officer Mike Devito said in a release.

“The accused failed the roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He subsequently was found to have an elevated Blood Alcohol Content. and was charged accordingly.”

Joshua Lublin, of Enright Street, was charged with driving while intoxicated. He will appear in Milford Superior Court on Nov. 14.

What is doing “doughnuts,” or “donuts” in a vehicle?

According to ModernRacer.com, “a ‘doughnut’ is the act of rotating the rear of the car around the front wheels continuously, thereby creating circular skid marks if done right, and causing lots of tire smoke. All in all, it is a pretty pointless technique, with no real use except to show off.”
