BRIDGEPORT - A local man has been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, telling her it was the way to make her his girlfriend. Klever Maldonado, 40, of Wood Avenue was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a child. He was being held in lieu of $200,000 bond. “We intend to vigorously defend our client,” said Maldonado’s lawyer, Guy Soares. The girl’s mother reported the sexual assaults to police in 2014 but after an investigation by the now dissolved Youth Bureau, the case sat for four years.
