The Connecticut State Police released a statement Tuesday reminding residents of the real reason troopers give motorists tickets — because they’re trying to keep the roadways safe. “Some people believe that when they get a ticket from a trooper that the trooper is just ‘picking on me’ or that the trooper has a ‘quota’ to fill,” state police said. “But the truth is we don’t give out tickets because we have ‘quotas’ and we certainly don’t pick on people.” But according to the agency, neither is accurate. State police said troopers give out tickets with the hopes of slowing drivers down and keeping all other drivers safe.
