WEST HAVEN - A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a pickup trunk Sunday night. The accicent happened at 9:21 p.m., Sgt. Charles Young said in a release. Patrol units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident which occurred on First Avenue just north of Center Street. “The initial investigation suggests the involved vehicle, a Ford model Pickup truck, was traveling north on First Avenue when it struck both a utility pole and a pedestrian. The vehicle appeared to continue off the roadway until finally coming to a stop on a nearby front lawn.” Young said the vehicle operator sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation/treatment.
