NEW HAVEN - A 25-year-old Bridgeport man, who went to New Haven on a Snapchat arranged date, ended up with his mother’s car stolen. At 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, a police officer was approached by a man claiming two men tried robbing him on the 500 block of Sherman Avenue just minutes earlier. He was picked up by two women who were going to drive him to the hospital, when they spotted the cop on Whalley Avenue near Sherman Avenue. The good Samaritans said they spotted the victim being chased down Dixwell Avenue and picked him up. “The victim told police he’d driven his mother’s car to New Haven to meet up with a woman he’d met through Snapchat.,” police said in a release.
