BRIDGEPORT — Inconsistency in Bassick High School leadership has been the only thing parents, students and staff at the city’s smallest comprehensive high school have been able to count on for a solid decade. Which is why some 20 people came to a Monday afternoon press conference at the steps of City Hall in hopes of keeping Byron Williams as principal of the school. The crowd, bolstered by a petition with more than 300 signatures, said it would be a terrible mistake to reassign Williams after just a year on the job. “It’s hard to connect with a principal when we know we are going to get a different one every year,” Kiana Johnson, a rising senior at Bassick, said. “We can’t connect. I want Dr. Williams.
