Danbury crash victims identified

DANBURY - Police have released the names of three people injured during a head-on collision late Friday on Newtown Road but have yet to say what caused the crash. According to authorities, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Bethel resident Eueal Dagne, 38, collided head-on with a 2002 GMC Envoy that was driven by Brookfield resident Robert Bates. Bates was driving eastbound on Newtown Road near the intersection with Old Shelter Rock Road and Dagne was heading west on the roadway around 11:45 p.m. Friday. The intersection, which is located near Wal-Mart and Super Stop & Shop, is one of the busier intersections in the city.
