As temperatures start to warm up and pools begin to open, many will break out their barbeques or smokers. But the National Fire Protection Association warns people of the increased of home fires for those that own a grill — with the association said is seven out of every 10 adults in the U.S. From 2011 to 2015, fire departments responded to an annual average of 9,600 home fires involving grills, hibachis or barbecues. That number included 4,100 structure fires and 5,500 outside or unclassified fires. July is the peak month for grill fires, the association said. Roughly 17 percent of all grill fires happen in July. That number is followed by May and June at 14 percent each, and August at 13 percent.
