Malloy restores grant money for Connecticut dairy farmers

Governor Dannel P. Malloy reversed a $1.4 million cut in funding to Connecticut dairy farmers, his office announced Tuesday. Lawmakers planned the cut in the two-year budget they passed in October, but restored some funding through their budget adjustments passed earlier this month. Malloy used his administrative authority to make reductions in other budget areas in order to put money back into an agricultural sustainability account, which provides grants to dairy farmers to offset the volatility of milk prices. “A strong and healthy farming community is integral to a strong and healthy Connecticut,” Malloy said in a statement.
