The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has put the Massachusetts-based New England Confectionery Company Inc. — commonly known as NECCO — on notice for “significant evidence of rodent activity and insanitary conditions throughout” its candy manufacturing facility in Revere, Mass. The FDA sent the company a letter on May 16, noting that its investigators had inspected the candy factory from Nov. 13 through Dec. 14, 2017 and found it wanting, to say the least. “During this inspection FDA collected three samples that documented rodent evidence throughout the facility,” the letter reads. As a result of that inspection, the FDA issued a listed of deviations at the facility.
