An accident involving a tractor-trailer truck has closed part of I-691 in Meriden early Tuesday morning. Trooper First Class Kelly Grant says one person in the crash has “life threatening injuries.” The accident, reported at 3:05 a.m. has closed the eastbound lanes at Exit 5. Traffic is being detoured off the highway. I-691 is a major highway that links I-84 in Southington and I-91 in Meriden. Grant said the accident involves one tractor-trailer truck and at least one car. “Extrication needed,” Grant said in an email. “Life-threatening injury reported. Injured transported to hospital for evaluation.”
