BRIDGEPORT — Sometimes it is the meeting itself the city school board fights about. What was to be a rare Tuesday school board meeting ended up canceled in front of a room full of staff, students and the public, in what one one board member characterized as a politically motivated boycott and another an attempt to cause drama and division. Left undone were agenda items such as determining a name for the new Warren Harding High School and the possibility of turning Bassick High School into an advanced manufacturing magnet school — something that will require significant state assistance. Board Chair John Weldon, one of six board members who did not attend, said he had to work late.
