STRATFORD - Four Stratford firefighters were injured while battling a blaze that heavily damaged a Canaan Road home early Tuesday. Fire Marshal Brian Lampart said about six people were displaced after fire and water damaged their apartments. Firefighters received the call for a fire at 361 Canaan Road shortly after midnight. “The who rear of the house was on fire from the ground level to the attic,” Lampart said. Because of extensive damage to the three-family house, the building is unfit for occupancy. The four firefighters were taken to the hospital for evaluation for smoke inhalation, a sprain and after being hit in the head by falling debris. All were treated and released. None of the tenants were injured by the fire.
