BRIDGEPORT - One man is dead and another is in critical condition following a shooting early Thursday. Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said shortly after 12:30 a.m., one man was brought into Bridgeport Hospital and another arrived at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with gunshot wounds. He said the man at St. Vincent’s, who has not been identified, died from his wounds following surgery shortly after 6 a.m. The man at Bridgeport Hospital was in critical condition. Fitzgerald said the shooting is believed to have taken place in the area of Asylum Street. “We are still looking at the cause and the for suspects and the case is under investigation,” Fitzgerald said. It is the fifth homicide in the city this year.
