STRATFORD — The swimming pool designed for the elderly and the disabled will reopen its doors on Friday after a six months’ hiatus. Built for the developmentally disabled residents of what used to be the Ella T. Grasso Center, the pool had been open to the public twice a week for public swim sessions. But when the Grasso Center closed in June 2016, the public swims faced an uncertain future. The pool reopened for a time in 2017, but then closed in October. Patrons have reacted to the news of its resurrection with satisfaction. “I used to have arthritis in my back, but thanks to this pool, that’s no longer a problem,” said Zoë Ward of Stratford, who has been using the pool for decades.
