A group of New Haven ministers, charging that state Democrats are ignoring people of color, is calling for the resignation of the party chairman. A leader of the organization, however, is on the payroll of an upstart candidate for governor who is boycotting next month’s state convention. The Rev. Boise Kimber, pastor of the First Calvary Baptist Church, said Thursday that he did not influence the request for the ouster of Nick Balletto, chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee, over an alleged lack of transparency, and inadequate minority representation in the pre-convention committee process.
