BRIDGEPORT — Firefighters battled a heavy fire in a building late Wednesday afternoon on Newfield Avenue, according to dispatch reports. Police are blocking off the roads as fire personnel work to extinguish the fire, dispatch reports indicate. Around 5:15 p.m., firefighters reported heavy fire in the 2.5-story dwelling. By 5:20 p.m., the main body of the fire was knocked down.
