BRIDGEPORT — City crews spent much of Saturday and Sunday cleaning up after dozens of Sacred Heart University Students left bottles, food containers and other litter strewn about the Seaside Park’s West Beach. Public Works Director John Ricci told Hearst Connecticut Media that the warm weather on Saturday brought out an undetermined number of SHU students to the park, who left the park “in an unacceptable condition.” Ricci, who is also the city’s parks director said that crews had to be called in on overtime on Sunday to complete the cleanup. “It took us entirely by surprise,” he said, noting that large gatherings need to be OK’d by the Department of Parks & Recreation ahead of time so that the parks can be properly staffed.
