St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has signed an agreement to be acquired by Hartford HealthCare. St. Vincent’s has 3,200 employees, making it one of the largest employers in Bridgeport, and includes a 473-bed hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group and St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services. It is currently owned by Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S., based in Minnesota.
