1,000 gallons of water extinguished Brookfield dumpster fire

BROOKFIELD — Firefighters extinguished a dumpster fire Thursday afternoon on Federal Road that remained under investigation Thursday evening. Around 3:40 p.m., the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a dumpster fire in the 100 block of Federal Road. The first unit on scene reported that the fire in the dumpster was about 25 feet away from the building. A fire engine that responded to to the fire filled the dumpster with 1,000 gallons of water, fire officials said, which smothered all the burning materials. Twelve fire personnel were dispatched to the fire. By 4:05 p.m., they had all cleared the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshall.
