Learn about porcupines during free program next month

DERBY — A licensed wildlife rehabilitator will host a program next month to teach people about porcupines. The one-hour program will be free and open to the public. It will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10 at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Avenue in Derby. Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Gerri Griswold will teach people about the natural history of porcupines. She will also bring her non-releasable porcupine to the event. Griswold is a director of administration and development at The White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield. As a wildlife rehabilitator, she is licensed to handle bats and porcupines. All ages are welcome at the event.
