Bridgeport adjusts Johnson’s contract.

BRIDGEPORT — On the job for nearly a year, Schools Superintendent Aresta Johnson got a two month extension on her three year contract to put the end date in line with the fiscal year. Johnson’s contract now extends to June 30, 2020 instead of April of that year. The school board, meeting in special session, voted unanimously in favor of the extension before going behind closed doors for a mid-year performance review. Johnson was named superintendent in late March 2017, the first in five years to not have the position in an interim capacity. Last year she earned $252,747. Since taking the job, there has been a turnover of five of the nine member school board. State law limits school superintendent contracts to three years.
