Judge orders third primary for city council

BRIDGEPORT -A Superior Court judge ordered the city to hold a third primary for the North End council seat, ruling city election officials violated state law and the head of the Democratic Party subverted the law. Robert Keeley, who lost the primary on Nov. 14 by 18 votes for the seat in the 133rd district against a Democratic Party-endorsed candidate, will now be back on the campain trail. “I’m going to be knocking on doors again” said Keeley moments after Judge Barbara Bellis’ decision. During the hearing on Monday police officer Paul Nikola testified he was ordered by Police Chief Armando Perez to report to Democratic Party Chairman Mario Testa on the day before the primary.
