These are not particularly happy times for Connecticut Democrats in King Donald’s Court. The GOP’s beloved tax bill could pass the Senate, maybe as early as Thursday. A government shutdown looms Dec. 8 but President Trump is tweeting: “I don’t see a deal (with Democrats).” And Trump’s reassurance after a North Korean ICBM missile test that “we will take care of it”? Don’t get them started. But they still manage to see one bright spot on the horizon. The Fix NICS Act, bipartisan legislation to beef up the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), might actually win congressional approval.
